Beatbox Tutorial – How to Beatbox on Boom Boom Pow

by Adi K on December 18, 2009

So, we promised and deliver! check this youtube beatbox video tutorial: (here is the teaser if you didn’t see it)

We are dividing our beatboxing tutorials to 3 main levels, beginner, intermediate, and expert. this one is an expert level! (although I am sure we will make even more advanced tutorials than that! We going to take it to another level for making the best beatboxers in the world!)

The key point for learning how to beatbox on boom boom pow beatboxing (black eyed peas) is first of all relax :)

Now, look at the fundamental of the Bass drum P, try to make it like Isato is doing, I think we will make a beatbox tutorial just for it. always practice the basics of beatbox.

Once you got the P sound in your mouth, go and try the Clap – CH, again you can do this combination even if you don’t master it, practice makes it’s perfect.

Proceed and follow Isato with the basic beat without the boom boom pow and “let me get that”, do it till you have really nice groove and you beat is working.

Now sing the Boom Boom Boom (it’s really boom boom boom), do it again and again till you get the tone right, it’s one of the beatbox master technique to sing with really good pitch. we will teach that too! (don’t worry if you are a girl or you voice can’t get that low, always find a way to compensate what you don’t have :) )

Go with Isato and do it with the basic beat with the boom boom, now just add the “let me get that”, did you got it? :) practice makes it perfect! see Isato’s timing with the voice and the basic beatbox beat. want more? comment us for what exactly do you want to learn.

If you are a really beginner beatbox skills I recommend try it bit by bit, and if it’s really hard for you, wait for our next tutorial, we promise to make a beginner level tutorial soon!

BTW: don’t forget to sign up! (at the upper right corner) we are realising soon the ULTIMATE beatbox manual, stay tuned…

beatbox like your grandma will scream at you, :P

Great article. There’s a lot of good information here, though I did want to let you know something – I am running Mac OS X with the circulating beta of Firefox, and the look and feel of your blog is kind of funky for me. I can read the articles, but the navigation doesn’t work so good.

Yes well done guys you are all doing a great job the tutorials are really good. I did some beatboxing in my wedding speech this weekend and seem to go down really well. I have never beatboxed on a mic before and the difference on a mic was amazing even my family who hear me beatbox all the time thought it was great. Does anyone know whats a good set up for recording beatboxing I.E what mic and sound system set up. Also I agree with the billie Jean comment it would be great to nail that one. I always struggle with the getting the 3rd sound right.

Wow, That’s amazing dude! I am happy for you, it is nice that we inspire people to make beatbox performances in their weddings (most of the credit is for you man).

About the Mic and Sound system, I wrote it down and we will do a post about it in near future, so you all can have the best systems.

Isato can teach you quite fast the billie jean beatbox, it is on our list too :)
